Our Approaches

Below is a non-exhaustive list of some of the therapeutic modalities we use!

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

A trauma-focused talk therapy using attachment theory & body-focused techniques to tap into coping mechanisms.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and manage them.

Experiential Therapy

Uses expressive tools (eg. role playing, music, guided imagery, etc.) to re-enact emotional situations to identify emotions and explore experiences that might have been blocked.

Family Systems

Views problems in the family not as particular members’ behaviours, but as the family’s group dynamic.

Gottman Method

The Gottman Theory shows that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and support each other’s hopes.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Focuses on embracing all aspects of ourselves by addressing the multiple sub-personalities within our mental systems.

Multicultural

This approach centers on a sensitivity to the cultural complexities each person brings to the therapeutic relationship.

Narrative

Embraces the idea that stories actually shape our behaviours and lives, and that we become the stories we tell ourselves.

Psychodynamic

Evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis, hones in on unconscious aspects of someone’s psyche to bring them into conscious awareness to promote insight and resolve conflict.

Sunlight reflecting off the surface of a body of water, creating bright sparkles and gentle ripples.
Somatic Experiencing

Stems from the Greek word for body (‘somat’), whose practice recognizes that we hold traumatic experiences in our bodies.

Trauma-Focused

Supports people healing from traumatic experiences to process and integrate healing into their lives.
